Gujarat are in a comfortable position as they take on Mumbai on Day Three of the final match of Ranji Trophy 2016-17 on Thursday. Day Two at the Holkar Stadium, Indore belonged to Gujarat as they took an first-innings lead against the defending champions of the competition. The live cricket streaming of this match will be available on Hotstar, while the live telecast will be broadcasted on Star Sports HD 4 and Star Sports 4. At stumps of Day Two, Gujarat were 291 for 6, with Chirag Gandhi and Rush Kalaria unbeaten at the crease to continue.

On Day Three, Samit Gohil and Priyank Panchal resumed batting for Gujarat. Two of the best players in the tournament, they have been key to Gujarat’s success. However, they departed for single-digit scores in the first innings. It was Bhargav Merai and Parthiv Patel’s partnership that provided solidity to the Gujarat innings. Merai departed for 45 while Parthiv kept batting with Manprit Juneja. Parthiv got to his half-century before lunch and both remained unbeaten. After lunch, Gujarat lost the wicket of Parthiv who was denied his century by 10 runs. Juneja’s dismissal was a bit controversial, as a similar delivery earlier in the morning was declared a no-ball for overstepping but the decision went against Juneja.

However, the two had successfully handed Gujarat the first-innings lead and Gujarat batsmen looked confident, scoring good runs. The run-rate was brought down only after the new ball was taken. Though Gujarat lost 6 wickets on Day Two, they put up good batting and are in command. For Mumbai, the usual pair of Shardul Thakur and Abhishek Nayar were the most successful while Balwinder Singh Sandhu showed good bowling with the old ball, bagging one wicket.
