Former champions Saurasthra came up with another fascinating performance as they drubbed Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 212 runs on Day Three in the second match-week for Group B of the Ranji Trophy 2017-18, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Monday. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was the undisputed star of the match as he smashed a brilliant 201, along with Sheldon Jackson, who to played a subtle knock of 181, as Saurashtra finished on 156, afer winning toss and batting first. In reply, J&K were bundled for 156 in the first innings, as Dharmendrasinh Jadeja claimed six for 68, while they imposed the follow-on. Despite the follow-on, J&K were unable to come up with a strong performance, as they were bundled for 100 more than the first innings, for 256, as Vandit Jivrajani claimed six for 79. In the other couple of matches for the group, Jharkhand were trailing Rajasthan by 25 runs in the second innings after suffering a follow-on on Day Three at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday. Rajasthan, who scored 423 in the opening innings courtesy of twin centuries from Amitkumar Gautam (107) and Tajinder Singh (134). In reply, Jharkhand were bundled for 265 as Pankaj Singh claimed 4 for 48, while they suffered a follow-on Monday. However, following the follow-on, they have so far batted decently and are currently at the score of 102 for the loss of a wicket, with opener Nazim Siddiqui currently unbeaten on 71, along with Virat Singh.

Meanwhile, Gujarat are just 83 runs away from win over Kerala at the GS Patel Stadium in Nadiad on Monday. This has been by far the most competitive game in the group. Kerala, winning the toss and batting first, were bundled for 208, as Piyush Chawla claimed 5 for 69. In reply, Gujarat were bundled for 307 courtesy of Chirag Gandhi’s 91, earning a lead of 99 runs. Kerala again came up with an average performance, as they were bundled for 203, with Siddharth Desai claiming 6 for 80. In reply, Gujarat are currently, 22 for the loss of a wicket, with Samit Gohel being the only wicket to fall for nine. As things stand for now, Gujarat are pretty close to a win, which should be earned easily on Day Four.
