Mumbai openers Wasim Jaffer (54 not out) and Kaustubh Pawar (21) took the hosts to 88 for one at lunch on Day Two of the Ranji Trophy final against Saurashtra at the Wankhede Stadium.

Responding to Saurashtra’s total of 148, the opening pair put Mumbai in a commanding position with a partnership of 75. Both batsmen were in no hurry to score runs and patiently went about their innings before Pawar fell to Siddharth Trivedi for a 90-ball 21.

Mumbai will aim to put up a huge first innings total, as the resume at 19 for no loss on the second day.

Wicketkeepr-batsman Aditya Tare (two not out) accompanied Jaffer into the lunch break.

Brief Scores: Saurashtra 148 (Aarpit Vasavada 55, Kamlesh Makvana 26; Dhaval Kulkarni 4 for 24) lead Mumbai 88 for 1 (Wasim Jaffer 54*, Kaustubh Pawar 21) by 60 runs.
