Ravi Shastri vs Sourav Ganguly: Sanjay Manjrekar, Bishan Singh Bedi speak out

"More than Sourav, I think Ravi is miffed with the rejection. It's a new experience for him. BCCI have made the better choice as coach," Manjrekar tweeted on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Former India international Sanjay Manjrekar and skipper Bishan Singh Bedi shared contrasting views on the raging verbal battle between former captains Ravi Shastri and Sourav Ganguly in the wake of the national coach apppointment. “More than Sourav, I think Ravi is miffed with the rejection. It’s a new experience for him. BCCI have made the better choice as coach,” Manjrekar tweeted on Wednesday. However, earlier in the day Bedi supported Shastri in what has become a major controversy. “Not getting coach’s job apart RJSHASTRI has every reason 2b peeved with selection process whence 1 selector played truant..not above board!!” Bedi wrote. Kumble: It is not about Shastri or me, but about India

After he was overlooked for the coach’s job, Shastri slammed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) Sourav Ganguly for not being present in the meeting when he was interviewed through skype. Veteran India discard Gautam Gambhir spoke to ABP News and was also critical of Shastri’s comments. Gambhir’s comments were in sync with Manjrekar’s view. “Ravi Shastri’s comments only shows his desperation. Kumble is the best choice, he is hard working person,” Gambhir told ABP News. Ganguly: Shastri should have shown bit more maturity

Ganguly today hit back at Shastri saying that the former India all-rounder was living in “fool’s world” if he held him responsible for the rejection. Another former captain Anil Kumble was chosen ahead of Shastri as the head coach for a period of one year.

A ‘disappointed’ Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday retaliated to Ravi Shastri‘s barbs at him by saying that the former team director was living in a “fool’s world”. Shastri lashed out at the former India skipper on Tuesday for skipping his interview for Team India head coach, and accused the former skipper of being ‘disrespectful’. Reacting to the attack as “personal”, Ganguly, one of the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) also comprising Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and co-ordinator Sanjay Jagdale, said it was a collective decision of the committee to appoint legendary leg-spinner Anil Kumble as the head coach, reported IANS.
