Ravichandran Ashwin scored 113 and picked up a 7-wicket haul in the first Test against West Indies and has therefore become the first Indian to score a century and pick up a 5-wicket haul on two occasions in Tests. Vinoo Mankad and Polly Umrigar have achieved this feat once. Mankad scored 184 and finished with 5 for 196 at Lord’s in 1952. Umrigar on the other hand scored an unbeaten 172 and then picked up five wickets at Port of Spain in the year 1962. Ashwin failed to pick up a single wicket in the first innings but returned with figures of 7 for 83 in the second innings to help India thrash West Indies by an innings and 92 runs.
