Sri Lanka off-spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan has backed Ravichandran Ashwin to continue the brilliant form he has displayed in recent times throughout his career and has opined that Ashwin could get anywhere between 600-700 wickets if he plays a 100 Tests. Ashwin will be extremely pleased with the comment, given it came from the man with 800 Test wickets, which is the world record. Ashwin, in the Sri Lanka series, has taken 17 wickets in the two Tests so far and Muralitharan feels there’s more to come. “The good thing about Ashwin is that he is flighting the ball. This is the biggest difference (from what he did in Australia). He also got bounce and that got him the wickets,” Muralitharan said on the post-match analysis on Sony Six as reported by sports.ndtv.com. Murali also said that Ashwin’s delivery to get Kumar Sangakkara out was a “classical” off-spinner. Kumar Sangakkara vs Ravichandran Ashwin: The final four dismissals of the legend’s career

Murali was impressed by Ashwin and said that the 28-year old should play international cricket for at least another 10 years.  “He has really done well for himself and Ashwin should play another 10 years for India,” Murali said. “He is 28 now and if can play a 100 Test matches, he would have picked up at least 600-700 wickets,” Murali added with a certain confidence in his voice.
