Ravichandran Ashwin has been in fine form during the ICC World Cup 2015. Against Pakistan he turned the pressure on the batsmen by bowling miserly overs and squeezed in three maiden overs. Against South Africa, not only did he bowl tight overs but also picked wickets, ending with figures 3 for 41. Against United Arab Emirates (UAE) he got his best match figures off 4 for 25.

His best match figures came at Perth and he expressed his delight about the same. “I am very happy it came at Perth because my last man of the match performance in Australia was also at Perth,” he told bcci.tv. He added, however, that numbers don’t matter to him. “Honestly speaking it is not about numbers for me. It is about the way the ball is coming out of my hand and how well I am bowling which is what matters to me at this point of time,” he said.

Ashwin revealed that his secret to success is the amount of revolutions he gets saying, “the way the ball is coming out of my hand and how much of revolutions I am getting on my deliveries.” ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: SCHEDULE & MATCH DETAILS

When asked whether it was only a misconception that spinners are ineffective at WACA, Ashwin gave an honest response. “You cannot really say that conditions don’t matter. Conditions do matter in this game but what can really work for you is to try and turn things that are to your advantage. My biggest advantage is bounce and Perth pretty much gives you that bounce,” he said.

Ashwin went on to say that he learnt a couple of key things from the long tour. “I have realised that a lot of things is in the air and how much of pace you can vary especially in the shorter format of the game.” ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Complete Coverage
