Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian all-rounder, is trying to get fit in time for the ICC World Cup 2015. Jadeja sustained a shoulder injury while on the tour to Australia and had to return after two Tests. Akshar Patel, the Gujarat and Kings XI Punjab all-rounder, has replaced him in the squad. The Indian selectors are watching on as Jadeja is trying to get ready as they are set to pick the World Cup squad on January 6. They will also be picking the team for the tri-series.

The Hindu reported that Jadeja will not be fit before January 6 and hence the selectors cannot choose him for the tri-series leading up to the World Cup. Jadeja is currently in Chennai, where he is training at the National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) rehabilitation centre. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is trying to figure out the extent of Jadeja’s injury and will also ascertain whether they can replace him from the World Cup squad in case he is picked and does not recover in time. If Jadeja does not get fit, Akshar is set to be his replacement.
