Rohit Sharma, skipper of record three-times champions of Indian Premier League (IPL) Mumbai Indians (MI), received a customised World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) title belt from WWE COO Paul Levesque aka Triple H on Friday. MI’s triumph in the IPL 2017 came after beating Steven Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) by just 1 run. Following the win, Triple H had congratulated MI and skipper Rohit for their outstanding performance and had also promised them a customised WWE title belt. WWE was a part of the promotion during the IPL 2017 as part of their broadcasting deal with Sony Pictures. “Individual brilliance wins you matches, teamwork wins you championships,” says Rohit Sharma

This was MI’s third title, while RPS, who had already beaten MI thrice in the tournament, had to settle for the second place in only their second season. Rohit, not particularly in good form in the tournament, believes that teamwork wins tournaments, while individual brilliance will win you just matches, and that is exactly what happened to MI this season. MI finished at top of the table in the group stages this time, just ahead of RPS. I had confidence on my bowlers, admits ‘nervous’ Rohit after MI tournament triumph

“I feel individual brilliance can win you a few games, but what is required to win a championship is team unity and team work. These are the factors which I believe personally is very critical to win a championship,” Rohit had said post MI’s IPL 2017 title win.
