Rohit Sharma had an off day at Dharamsala. He fell for 2. Less than an hour later, India were reeling at 29 for 7 before the MS Dhoni rescue act helped the side to 112. The stand-in captain made amends, slamming his 16th ODI century in the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka at Mohali. This also happens to be Rohit’s 50th fifty-plus score in international cricket. Rohit has surpassed Virender Sehwag’s tally of 15 ODI hundreds. He also became only the third Indian to register an ODI hundred at Mohali, after MS Dhoni (in 2013) and Virat Kohli (2016).

For the second time on a row, Rohit lost the toss and was invited to bat. This is Rohit’s fifth ODI hundred against Sri Lanka. His previous century against Sri Lanka at home was the 264 he got at Eden Gardens in 2014.

Rohit now has the fourth-most ODI hundreds by an Indian batsman. Sachin Tendulkar leads the list with 49. Kohli and Sourav Ganguly follow the list with 32 and 22 hundreds respectively. En route the mark, Rohit went past Tendulkar in terms of most sixes at home. Rohit has hit 72 sixes in India in comparison to Tendulkar’s 71. The list is led by Dhoni (119).
