Rohit Sharma ended his torrid form on the South African soil. During the fifth ODI at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, Rohit scored his maiden hundred in South Africa and overall 17th. Before this game, Rohit’s highest ODI score in South Africa read 23. Rohit had a trouble facing the in-swingers at the start of the innings. Kagiso Rabada time and again irked Rohit by consistently jabbing the ball in and trapping him in front, but the extra bounce saved the Indian opener. That, however, was that. Once Rohit found his feet, he was a delight to watch. His 3 sixes came on the leg-side — the best being a pull off Rabada.

Rohit was involved in two run outs: first, Virat Kohli called for a quick single immediately after Rohit dabbed one into the ground; Rohit declined and Kohli could not make his ground in time. Then  Rohit declined a quick single to Ajinkya Rahane (in fact, Rahane almost ran two after being denied the run); the result was the same. Rohit also had luck on his side. Tabraiz Shamsi dropped him at third-man when he was batting on 96. He reached the three-figure mark with a flick.
