India’s newly appointed vice-captain for the One-Day International (ODI) series, Rohit Sharma continued his purple run in the Emerald nation. Rohit scored his 13th hundred for India in 85 balls, playing the fourth match of the 5-ODI series at Colombo. With this hundred Rohit equalled Australian vice-captain David Warner, former South Africa opener and India coach Gary Kirsten’s tally of 13 hundreds. He is now behind Team India colleague Yuvraj Singh tally of 14. Virender Sehwag has 15 ODI centuries.

This is Rohit’s second hundred in the ongoing series. He scored an unbeaten 124 in the third ODI at Kandy that India won by 6 wickets. He added 157 run along with MS Dhoni for the fifth wicket. Warner has 13 centuries in 96 ODIs for Australia at an average of 44.72. Kirsten played 185 ODIs across his career to get 13 hundreds at 40.95.

Sadly for India, Rohit was dismissed by Angelo Mathews for 104. Rohit trying to guide the ball over the third man region handed a faint nick to Niroshan Dickwella. He along with Virat Kohli added 219 runs for the second wicket as well. Kohli himself scored his 29th ODI hundred to get past Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of 28 hundreds.

India currently are 264 for 4 in 36 overs.
