One of India’s most explosive limited-overs batsman, Rohit Sharma, is gearing himself up for participating in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016-17. Rohit, who plays for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, has recovered from a thigh surgery and is now completely fit after having undergone rehabilitation at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. Rohit will feature for Mumbai in games against Andhra Pradesh and Goa scheduled for March 4 and March 6 respectively. Rohit has been away from cricket since a very long time. He was last seen on the international circuit during the five-match ODI series against New Zealand, during which he suffered the injury. Rohit took to Twitter as a medium of communicating this development. He tweeted, “Finally done with rehab, Can’t wait to play Vijay Hazare on 4th & 6th. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here. Counting down the minutes.” Rohit was at the NCA along with Amit Mishra, Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohammed Shami, who were also undergoing rehabilitation. Rohit thanked all the staff at NCA and everyone who helped him get pass this tough stage.

Mumbai are currently place third in Group C with 8 points, having won 2 games out of 3. Their only loss so far came against Madhya Pradesh that thrashed Mumbai by 80 runs. Rohit’s last played for India in the first One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand in October 2016. He since then has missed out on the England Test, ODI and T20I series, and also the one-off Test against Bangladesh.


Rohit will want to use this window of opportunity in an attempt to make a comeback in the Indian side that is yet to name squad for the third and fourth Test against Australia.
