New Delhi: The sports fraternity on Monday came in unison to pay homage to ‘Father of Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his 148th birth anniversary. From Sachin Tendulkar to Mithali Raj, everyone took to their official Twitter accounts to extend their warm wishes. They also took the opportunity to laud the cleanliness drives organised by the Indian Government to promote ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.’Cleanliness is Godliness’ had been the mantra of Mahatma Gandhi’s life.

Following Gandhiji’s footsteps, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ on October 2, 2014 with a vision of achieving ‘Clean India’ by 2019. And the drive completes its three years on October 2, 2017. Paying tribute to Gandhi ji, Tendulkar called on the countrymen to contribute towards making India both ‘Swachh’ as well as ‘Swasth’.

“Each one of us can contribute towards making India both Swachh and Swasth. Let’s start today on the occasion of #Gandhi Jayanti!” he wrote.
