Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Ricky Ponting and Brain Lara are among the 28 retired cricketers who will seen in action along with Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne in the Cricket All Stars Twenty20 matches scheduled to be played in USA next month. The iconic cricketers who will be divided into two teams led by Warne and Tendulkar will play three T20 matches in US baseball stadiums. The tour in partnership with US sports marketing company Leverage Agency will feature T20 matches at New York’s Citi Field on November 7, Houston’s Minute Maid Park on November 11, and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on November 14. According to Zeenews, the Indian big names who will be playing the T20 matches along with Tendulkar are Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Ajit Agarkar. Kumar Sangakkara who recently retired from international cricket will also be seen along with countrymen Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardena. However, the cricketers are yet to be divided into the two teams.
Earlier, Tendulkar shared a picture on Twitter with the Australian legend, saying, “Am Coming to America in exactly a month with Cricket All Stars!” The former Indian cricketer had admitted that he would want to see more number of Americans pick up cricket bats along with the baseball bats. “You’ll only learn things if you give them a try. Americans are used to watching baseball, and it’s very similar to that,” he told Time magazine. If Americans can start coming to the stadium, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them following cricket from here on,” he further added.
