Bangladesh scripted history by defeating Australia for the first time in Test cricket when they won by 20 runs at Dhaka on Wednesday. On Tuesday, West Indies had stunned England by levelling the 3-match Test series when they clinched the second Test at Headingley by 5 wickets. Cricket fraternity have been taken by surprise by victories of two lower-ranked teams over the past two days — West Indies and Bangladesh over England and Australia respectively. Sachin Tendulkar was taken aback as well. He took to his Twitter account to express his views: “2 upsets in 2 days! Inspiring performance by @BCBtigers! Test cricket is thriving #BANvAUS.” Although the message was meant in support of Bangladesh, it did not go well with the Tigers.

The word ‘upset’ disappointed the Bangladesh fans. Tendulkar was reminded by Twitter users that Bangladesh were no longer minnows. They also went on to say, ‘winning is now a habit and we are getting used to it’. Some felt Bangladesh were a new power in Test cricket while some took it in good stride, considering it was not a new story for Australia to face an upset in the longest format these days.
