Sachin Tendulkar to receive Bharat Ratna on February 4

Sachin Tendulkar will be awarded with India’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna on February 4 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Tendulkar will be conferred with the award by the President of India, Dr. Pranab Mukherjee.
According to a report on the website of India Today, Tendulkar will get the Bharat Ratna on February 4 and the president will be part of the dress rehearsal to be held a day before on February 3. Tendulkar will be felicitated along with Prof. CNR Rao.
The decision to confer the highest civilian honour on Tendulkar was taken just moments after the maestro retired on November 16, 2013. He retired after completing his 200th Test on his homeground Wankhede Stadium.
Tendulkar will be the youngest to receive the Bharat Ratna and the first sportsperson to be conferred with the title. It is after a gap of almost five years, a Bharat Ratna is being conferred. The last announcement was in 2009 when Pt. Bhimsen Joshi was honoured with the title.
