Legendary former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar‘s son Arjun produced an all-round performance in a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) U-16 Payyade Trophy match in Mumbai. Arjun took four for 73 and chipped in with an impressive 40 for Sunil Gavaskar XI on the second day of thei ongoing match against Rohit Sharma XI at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana on Wednesday, having hit a century in the match a day earlier. According to a report on the Indian Express, Arjun had slammed a 156-ball 106 on Tuesday that contained 16 fours and two sixes. The tournament acts as a selection trial for U-16 cricketers in Mumbai.

Arjun, along with sister Sara, are no strangers to limelight, with their father being one of the most talked-about athletes in the world. Arjun has been following his father’s footsteps by taking up the sport from an early age, blessed with access to some of the best training facilities and guidance. Much like Sachin touring England at the tender age of 16 with Star Cricket Club, Arjun was picked for a tour of South Africa with the Mumbai-based Worli Cricket Club, which went on to tour Johannesburg, Pretoria and Potchefstroom where the side played 10 matches against a select few schools from the said cities.

Arjun also had the privilege of being a part of England’s training session during the Ashes 2015, where he got to bowl to the English batsmen ahead of the second Test at Lord’s. Arjun has also been part of the Mumbai Indians practice sessions, with the father-son duo bowling to the current Indian Premier League (IPL) champions during a practice session in the 2014 edition.
