The auction for the sixth edition of Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 tournament was held in London on March 1. The tournament will start from August 8 with six franchise taking part in it. A total of 227 players have been sold in the auction which includes 53 from Pakistan and 23 from Sri Lanka. It also includes players from Test playing nations like England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh.

The main attraction from the auction was the selection of Nepal‘s star player Sandeep Lamichhane. Lamichhane was bagged by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots  for an amount of $5,000 in the CPL 2018 auction. The leg-spinner has performed impressively in the ICC WCL division-2 tournament helping his team to qualify. He also picked up most number of wickets in the tournament and was a part of some vital partnerships during the tournament.

Lamichhane would be seen back in action in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers 2018 starting March 4. Nepal would take on Zimbabwe in their opening match of the tournament. Lamichhane also made news when he became the first Nepali player to bought in IPL auction 2018. Delhi Daredevils bagged him for INR 20 lakhs.
