Pakistan‘s former captain and one of the finest all-rounders, Shahid Afridi, was presented Virat Kohli‘s jersey, comprising of signatures from Indian cricket team. Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket during the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 and was gestured with an Indian team jersey wishing him all the luck for future and acknowledging his contribution towards the game. Enthused by the gift, Afridi tweeted from his official Twitter handle and acknowledged the ‘moving gesture’. Later, Kohli and former Australian cricketer, Dean Jones, also shared their views on the social media platform. Pakistan need aggressive individuals like Sarfraz Ahmed to take team forward, says Shahid Afridi

Afridi was clearly taken aback by Indian cricket team’s gesture and thanked them. He even referred Kohli as ‘Superstar’ and stated that he is eagerly waiting to meet him. Afridi, regarded as shorter-formats’ specialist, has featured in 398 ODIs and 98 T20Is for Pakistan. He even led the national side to the ICC World Cup 2011 semi-finals, apart from being the Player of the Tournament in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 (WT20) 2007 edition. Interestingly, Kohli also had a message for the 37-year-old:

Former Australian, Jones, was also pleasantly surprised by Kohli and co. and tweeted with an interesting message.

Jones appreciated the bond shared between two arch-rival countries’ players despite not having played a bilateral Test series since 2007. He hoped for ‘politics’ to not intervene in the cricketing arena and allow both the sides to meet more frequently on the 22-yard circle.
