Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi has announced that he would not be representing domestic South African side Chevrolet Knights in the country’s domestic Twenty20 competition early next year.
The Bloemfontein-based franchise last month announced that Afridi would join them for the competition scheduled for January and February 2014. However, Sport24 reports that Afridi has pulled out due to a family crisis and has even offered to find the Knights find an appropriate replacement, although Knights CEO Johan van Heerden said they would not be able to make a new signing on such short notice.
Other overseas players to play in the competition include West Indies duo, Sunil Narine (Cape Cobras) and Chris Gayle (Dolphins), Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal (Titans) and Sohail Tanvir (Highveld Lions) and England’s Graham Onions (Dolphins), the report added.
