Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi‘s announcement to retire from One-Day Internationals (ODI) has caught the social media by storm, with thousands of tweets coming in support of Afridi every minute.
My journey has seen many ups and downs but I am feeling satisfied that I am leaving on my own terms.
Shahid Afridi has played 389 ODIs and 27 Tests since his international debut in 1996. Afridi added that he intends to play Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) after retiring from one-dayers. Afridi had announced a ‘conditional retirement’ in 2011 after he was stripped of one-day captaincy. It did not take him long to withdraw his retirement, making himself available for selection towards the end of that year.
