Shakib Al Hasan became the first Bangladesh player and fourth overall to claim 300 T20 wickets. The only others to take 300 wickets are Dwayne Bravo (414), Lasith Malinga (348), Sunil Narine (324) and Shahid Afridi (300). Shakib’s 300th wicket came for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. His 300th victim was Rohit Sharma. Overall, Shakib has 300 T20 wickets from 259 matches (including today’s). Of these, 75 have been for Bangladesh, from 63 T20Is.
Shakib has played IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before SRH purchased him in the IPL 2018 auctions. Playing for KKR, Shakib had 43 wickets at an average of 24.56. He first played in the IPL in 2011 with KKR. His best season with KKR was in 2014, where he picked 11 wickets and scored 227 runs as well. Apart from Bangladesh, KKR and SRH, Shakib has featured for teams like Adelaide Strikers, Barbados Tridents, Dhaka Gladiators, Jamaica Tallawahs, Karachi Kings, Khulna Division, Peshawar Zalmi and Worcestershire. He also had 4,019 T20 runs before today, the second-most for a Bangladeshi, after Tamim Iqbal.
