Shardul Thakur: Keen to work with Anil Kumble

Shardul Thakur has been impressive with his outing in the past two seasons of Ranji Trophy with 41 and 48 wickets respectively.

India’s new head coach Anil Kumble is all set to begin his tenure with his side touring West Indies for four-match Test series beginning from July. The preparatory camp has already started off at National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Monday with Test skipper Virat Kohli and Kumble seen during the practice session. Coincidentally, he will be beginning his stint at his own home ground adding to the excitement. In hindsight, Mumbai’s Shardul Thakur it was a moment to savor who is also beginning his stint as this was his outing with the Indian Test team.  Thakur enriched every moment as he was stepping to play during the practice session. Thakur spoke to BCCI.TV and said, “There is always a bit of nervousness when you are new to the setup. I was nervous before landing here, but once I talked to the guys, I settled down. When we fly to St. Kitts, I might be a bit nervous but at the same time, it gets the best out of me.” Thakur has been impressive with his innings in past two season of Ranji Trophy performances with 41 wickets in 2015-16 and 48 wickets in 2014-15. He is delighted to be part of national team and further added, “It feels great. I was really excited to come here and give my best. On the first day, we did few fitness tests and I am happy I did well.” ALSO READ: Kumble could bring Indian cricket’s golden generation back

Thakur also admired the fact Kumble created an impact around while addressing the team “I must say he created an impact right in his first interaction itself. I am keen to work with him and learn a lot of things. He is a legend. He has loads of experience and it is going to be very useful to the team and me. I am looking forward to spending time with him on this tour.” The Mumbai boy is also waiting to play under the captaincy of Kohli who is in raribng form this year, “Bowling to good batsmen in the nets is always an advantage as it shows you where you stand, what you need to work on and how you can improve. So, I am looking forward to bowling to Kohli in the nets and test myself.”
