Left-handed opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner on Wednesday created history when they crossed the 1,500-run mark as an opening pair, in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhawan and Warner did not have the best of outings on Wednesday night against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 9 Eliminator, but they managed to become the first pair ever to achieve the feat for their side. Nearest to them is the opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, who have so far added 1,463 runs together for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL tournaments. Dhawan and Warner had a poor start, as the former was dismissed on the final ball of the second over by lanky Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Morne Morkel. Dhawan was dismissed for 10 off 10 balls, after striking 2 boundaries during his stay at the crease.
In their ongoing IPL 2016 Eliminator, Warner was unbeaten on 21 off 17 balls as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) reached 43 for 1 in 6 overs. Warner has been in terrific form, as in the league round he scored 658 runs with 7 half-centuries in 14 matches.
Earlier in the game, KKR captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to field first. Both the teams made a few changes, with KKR bringing in Morkel for Shakib Al Hasan and Rajagopal Sathish coming in for Ankit Rajpoot.
