Rohit Sharma’s batting Tests has been shredded by fans and critics alike after his poor show in the ongoing India’s  series against South Africa. Despite scoring a valiant 47 in the second innings of Centurion Test, his place in the side continues to be a nation-wide debate. Amidst this entire controversy, former Pakistan bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has compared Rohit to Pakistani legend Inzamam-ul-Haq.

PTI quotes Shoaib as saying: “There is a lot of debate on Rohit. We all know he is a great talent but in the world we are living you have to perform. He is very talented, I see shades of Inzamam-ul-Haq in him.” He also spoke about Ajinkya Rahane exclusion, he said: Unfortunately, he has not delivered on what was expected of him. And not having Ajinkya Rahane was shocking because he is your most technically correct batsman.”

Indian bowlers have been on the money in the Test series so far. Shoaib not to shy down from speaking his mind, spoke about but India not developing as a fast bowling nation. He said: “I would not say that. I would say they are gradually improving and there is a long way to go before India can call itself a good fast bowling nation. India have always been known for their batting but nowadays you are seeing emergence of fast bowlers too but still I would say long way to go.”

Shoaib will be seen playing ice cricket with the likes of Virender Sehwag, Graeme Smith. Mahela Jayawardene, Lasith Malinga and Michael Hussey at a frozen lake in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
