Shoaib Malik, the Pakistan all-rounder has signed up for Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast in England. Malik will play six matches for Birmingham from June 19 to July 8.
The website of the Warwickshire board, www.edgbaston.com quoted Malik, “I’m very excited to have signed for a huge club like the Bears. I enjoyed my short stints with Gloucestershire many years ago and sadly haven’t been able to play county cricket since then because of my Pakistan commitments.”
Malik has been in and out of the Pakistan team in the recent past and that has allowed him to travel around the world and play for different teams. Recently, he played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
“Hopefully I can make an important contribution in my time at Edgbaston that helps the Birmingham Bears be successful in this competition,” Malik said.
The Director of cricket at Warwickshire, Dougie Brown, the former England player, has welcomed Malik’s inclusion in the team.
Malik is currently in Bangladesh with the Pakistan squad for the ICC World T20 2014.
