Smriti Mandhana has been signed by the Western Storm in England’s Women’s Cricket Super League 2018. Mandhana will be the first Indian to feature in this league. She is also the second overseas recruit of the team this season, along with New Zealand wicketkeeper Rachel Priest. Mandhana has performed consistently after World Cup 2017, scoring 402 runs in 12 T20Is with 4 half-centuries and a career-best 40-ball 76 against England. She also played for Brisbane Heat in the 2016-17 BBL and captained IPL Trailblazers in a T20 exhibition match ahead of IPL 2018 Qualifier 1 in Mumbai.

“I am very excited to be playing for the Kia Super League champions. To be the first Indian player to appear in the tournament is a real honour and I hope that I can help Western Storm to more success,” Mandhana was quoted as saying by the franchise.
