Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage said Wednesday that he is keen to see the implementation of the report submitted by former ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, reports Xinhua.
Among the recommendations made in the report is for the selection of the national team to be fully in the hands of the selectors with no political interference.
The report also highlights the need to change the existing constitution of the cricket board, saying it does not conform to global practices.
The report, compiled by Lorgat on the invitation of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, was released to the media together with a set of recommendations on Sri Lanka cricket.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has been plagued by financial issues, including the inability at one time to pay the cricketers’ fees.
