Sri Lankan cricketer Dimuth Karunaratne on Sunday evening took a dig at the struggling Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who notched up his first half-century in the final game of the marathon tour of England.  Kohli smashed 66 runs off 41 balls but his effort went in vain as India lost their one-off Twenty20 International to England by a narrow margin of three runs at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday evening.

Kohli came back to form with that knock but it came against an attack that did not have James Anderson, as the English pace spearhead has continued to trouble the Indian batting sensation. Kohli was haunted by Anderson in the Test series and the trend continued in the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series as well, wherein the batsman failed to notch up even a half-century.

As England were without the services of Anderson in the T20 match, Kohli went on to score 66 and strengthened India’s position in the game. Kohli’s Sri Lankan contemporary, Karunaratne, took to Twitter to express his views:

However, as the match ended with India losing narrowly, the Sri Lankan player also expressed his satisfaction over Kohli’s performance.
