Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa has congratulated his nation’s cricket team after their victory over Pakistan in the first Test at Galle.

Pakistan lost the game by 7 wickets, despite a brilliant century by Younis Khan in the first innings. Angelo Mathews’ captaincy, Kumar Sangakkara’s double century and Rangana Herath‘s terrific performance with the ball were just some factors that helped the host nation clinch the convincing victory.

Pakistan will play Sri Lanka in another Test match at Colombo on August 14, 2014.
