Angelo Mathews missed his maiden One-Day International (ODI) century as he was dismissed on 89 against Pakistan in the second ODI at Hambantota. Mathews came in to bat, when Sri Lanka were 75 for the loss of four wickets. He combined well with Mahela Jayawardene to form a 100+ run partnership to get the home side in a good position.
Unfortunately for Sri Lanka, Jayawardene departed after being run out by a precise Umar Akmal throw. Mathews was looking in great touch, and played a captain’s knock.
The series will be a good opportunity for both teams to strike the right team balance ahead of the ICC World Cup 2015.
