West Indies lost the wickets of Dwayne Smith and Chris Gayle early in the innings in their semi-final against Sri Lanka at the Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. Lasith Malinga had him bowled as he chopped one back onto his stumps in the fifth over. Later in the same over, Smith was castled for 17. In five overs, West Indies are 28 for two.
Gayle was bowled of an inside off Malinga’s bowling and Smith was beaten by a delivery that came back in to him.
West Indies are chasing 161 for a spot in the final after Sri Lanka gave them that challenge after batting first.
West Indies now have Lendl Simmons in the middle along with Marlon Samuels. This should be a challenging task for West Indies.
