Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bowl first against Bangladesh in the first One-Day International match at Hambantota on Saturday.
Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh in the recently concluded two-match Test series 1-0.
Bangladesh will seek inspiration from their Asia Cup victory over Sri Lanka when they open a three-match One-day series.
