England all-rounder Stuart Broad on Monday hit back at Sir Ian Botham, saying some former cricketers must look at their own record before criticising others.
“And before u listen to too many ex playing ‘experts’ being negative, ask them if they ever won a Test series in India….#28years,” Broad wrote on Twitter, after England were pummelled by nine wickets at Motera in the first Test.
Broad added: “India outplayed us. A few positives but on the whole poor so sorry for that. Onwards and upwards.”
According to the Daily Telegraph, Botham had questioned England’s team selection for the opening Test, saying the English dressing room had become “too matey, matey”.
Botham had earlier said that all-rounder Broad should be left out as one of four changes to the side for the second Test, which begins on Friday, November 23.
