Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first match of the Indian Premier League Season 9 in superb fashion on Monday. SRH beat Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets in the 12th match of the IPL at their home venue - Hyderabad. It was David Warner, the SRH skipper who steered his side to a magnificent chase after MI set a target of 143 runs in their 20 overs. Warner paced his innings superbly as wickets fell at the other end after small partnerships. The Australian also won the Man of the Match award for his performance with the bat. He scored 90 off 59 balls. SRH finally managed to get some points and open their accounts on the points table. Earlier, MI finished with 142-6 in their 20 overs with Ambati Rayudu and Krunal Pandya top scoring for the side. MI were off to a poor start as Martin Guptill who was brought in place of Kieron Pollard was out in the very first over of the match. Soon, Parthiv Patel was back into the dug-out and to make matters worse skipper Rohit Sharma was run-out. Jos Buttler didn’t contribute much either. It was Krunal Pandya and Rayudu who made a decent stand between them and took MI to a respectable total. CATCH THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MATCH HERE: Match 12: SRH vs MI, IPL 2016

SRH also lost Shikhar Dhawan early yet again in the chase. Moises Henriques then stayed at the crease alongside Warner and played sensibly until he lost his wicket. Eoin Morgan and Deepak Hooda too chipped in with runs but it was David Warner’s aggressive knock that took SRH to their first win of the season.
