Otago win by five wickets and they are unbeaten now. Brendon runs out Nathan. Sunrisers have lost their first game but this was a qualifier and not a do-or-die game. Otago win with 22 balls to spare. Nathan McCullum is the man-of-the-match.
Otago Volts: 143/4 | Overs 16 | B McCullum 67 , N McCullum 1 OUT! Neesham 21 (13)
Seven runs have come off Sammy’s over. Otago need only one run to win. Otago are unbeaten in the tournament so far, in the qualifiers though.
Ishant Sharma is taken to the cleaners. Brendon McCullum has smashed Ishant for two sixes and two boundaries. This is carnege at Mohali. Twenty-two of the over. Ishant overtakes ten Doeschate in that reagrd (He gave away 21 off an over earlier which was the most expensive over of the tournament).
Neesham hits Karan for a six over mid-wicket. That is some style to get off the mark. Otago need just run-a-ball. Eight have come off the over.
Otago Volts: 85/3 | Overs 11 | B McCullum 31, Neesham 0 OUT! ten Doeschate 3 (5)
A Mishra googly beats Ryan ten Doeschate. That was class from Mishra. The Dutch all-rounder had no idea what happened. Five runs came off the over.
Otago Volts: 80/2 | Overs 10 | B McCullum 26, ten Doeschate 0 OUT! Rutherford 27 (23)
Steyn picks up Rutherford. Is that the breakthrough that brings back Sunrisers in the game? At the halfway stage Otago are 80 for two. They need further 64 from 10 overs. A wicket would make this contest interesting.
Karan beats McCullum with the flight off the final delivery and Parthiv misses the stumping. McCullum hits Karan for a six over long-on and then he follows that up with a four. Twelve runs have come off the over.
Beard has given away only nine off the final over. Otago have restricted Sunrisers below 150. Couple of 20s and a fifty from Sunrisers’ innings. So Otago on top here. Will Sunrisers restrict Otago in the final qualifier?
Twenty-one have come off ten Doeschate’s final over. This is a massive over. This is the most expensive over of the tournament thus far. Sammy hits a 96-meter six over long-on then he hits another shot in the same direction. Duminy hits the final ball straight for a four.
Otago are changing the pace and are controlling the game. Only five runs have come of the over. Ten Doeschate beats Sammy in pace and misses the caught and bowled. What can they get in the last five overs?
White starts the over by hitting Beard for a huge six over long-on. They have pressed on the accelerator. The final ball has been hit for a boundary through mid-wicket. The ball raced away for a boundary — all around the ground.
Beard snaps Samantray. The catch taken by Michael Bracewell is amazing. At long-on he managed to hold on to the ball but he lost the balance. He kept the ball in play and took the catch. As cool as it can be.
McCullum bowls out he has conceded 23 off his four overs. He got important wickets of Parthiv and Dhawan. Volts are on top here. Sunrisers are consolidating. Five have come of the over, the batsmen were looking to take singles.
Dhawan is caught at mid-on trying to loft McCullum over the top. Ryan ten Doeschate is in action. Sunrisers have had a sloppy start. McCullum finally has the openers. Duminy hits the first ball of his innings straight for a four.
Wagner brings the ball back in and Samantray was in trouble. The ball looked like hitting the stumps on both the occasions. Borderline decisions and some straight forward ones. Sunrisers are lucky here.
Dhawan is lucky yet again. Nathan McCullum’s arm-ball comes back in and Dhawan gets his pad first and then the bat. Dhawan then slog-sweeps the next ball over mid-wicket for a six. Parthiv falls off the fifth ball trying to cut the arm-ball. Otago are off the mark.
Neil Wagner opens the attack with Nathan. Parthiv is looking to attack. He smashes the final ball of the second over, over the top of covers. This has been a decent start for Sunrisers. Ten runs have come off the over.
Nathan McCullum is bowling the first over. This is an interesting move. Nathan traps Dhawan in front of the wicket but umpire Paul Reiffel gives that not-out. That was mighty close. Sunrisers are lucky. Will this decision prove to be decisive in the final analysis?
Otago Volts captain Brendon McCullum wins the toss and has decided to field in the final qualifying match of the Champions League Twenty20 2013 (CLT20 2013).
