Suresh Raina fell after scoring a brisk 35 as India slipped further in the second One-Day International against New Zealand at Hamilton.
India reached 236 for five after 37 overs, needing a further 61 runs from five overs.
Dhoni is batting on 36 while Ravindra Jadeja is on seven.
Earlier, Virat Kohli was dismissed by Tim Southee for 78 runs. Kohli was leading India’s chase but fell trying to attack Southee. He score 78 in 65 balls hitting seven boundaries and two sixes.
Southee dropped one short and Kohli confidently went for the pull shot. However, the ball reached a touch late and ended up dragging the ball to substitute fielder Anton Devcich at mid-on. Kohli had shared a 90-run third-wicket stand with Ajinkya Rahane (36) and then a 37-run stand with MS Dhoni in six overs.
