Suryakumar Yadav turns on the heat as KKR surge forward in their chase of 152 against RR

Apr 29, 2014

Kane Richardson bowled the 18th over in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Shakib got an inside edge down to squarish fine leg for a very important boundary. Shakib followed it up with another boundary through mid wicket, as the required rate fell dramatically. Richardson followed it up with a good yorker, before conceding a single to mid wicket. At the end of the over, KKR needed 16 off the last 12 balls.

Shane Watson came in to bowl the 17th over  of the innings. Shakib started off by trying to work the ball away, only to have the ball deflect off the bat on to his visor. Luckily he was unhurt, as the batsmen crossed over for a single. Watson bowled a no ball, but only conceded a single off the free hit. Shakib and Surya were unable to get the big shots, as Watson kept bowling full and wide of off stump. Surya managed to sweep Watson for a six, and then got an outside edge for a boundary off the next ball.

Tambe, bowling his final over, was swept for a boundary to square leg by Suryakumar off the third ball. Surya and Shakib employed the sweep against Tambe to reasonably good effect. At the end of the over, KKR needed 42 off 24 balls.

Earlier, Iqbal Abdullah bowled the 15th over of the innings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Suryakumar Yadav continued his impressive form in IPL 7 by going inside out over covers to pick up a boundary off the second ball. There was an appeal for LBW against Shakib off the fourth ball, but it was turned down. KKR scored nine runs off the over.

Rajat Bhatia came back to bowl the 14th over. Suryakumar Yadav, sent in ahead of Robin Uthappa and Shakib-al-Hasan, started sedately. At the other end, Gautam Gambhir holed out to the deep going for a big hit. He was dismissed for a well-compiled 45. Shakib came in at No 6, and ran four runs off his first two balls.

Pravin Tambe bowling his third over on the trot, was hit by Pandey over long on for six. Pandey found the gap off the next ball as well, pulling him all along the ground for a boundary. Tambe soon had his revenge, getting Pandey out LBW with a ball that slid on after pitching.

Earlier, Gambhir was looking solid in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2014 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals. Rajat Bhatia came back to bowl the 12th over. He kept things quiet, but still ended up conceding eight runs off the over.

Pravin Tambe came back to bowl his second over, as 94 runs were needed off the final 10 overs. He managed to rap Gambhir on the pads, but a loud LBW appeal was turned down. It looked very close for Gambhir, who was lucky to remain not out. Pandey and Gambhir worked the ball around for singles. Just six off the over.

Bhatia bowls the 10th over. Gautam Gambhir showed signs of some good form, getting a boundary off Bhatia’s third delivery. Decent over for KKR, leaves them with 59 for two after 10.
