Mumbai scored a total of 198 after they were put to bat by Punjab. Opener Ajit Herwadkar gave a good start to Mumbai scoring 42 off 36. Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer for Mumbai scoring unbeaten 79 off 44 with eight fours and four sixes. Captain Aditya Tare’s cameo of 13 runs in four balls helped Mumbai to post a competitive total.
Punjab chased the total in 19.2 overs with Gurkeerat Maan (43) scoring at a strike rate of 238. Manan Vora’s 42 set up a good stand for Punjab up front. Harbhajan Singh promoted himself on No. 3 looking to score quick runs but could only manage to score 11. Yuvraj Singh also played a good hand in Punjab’s win by scoring 40 off 34 balls. His innings included two fours and sixes.
Punjab were struggling at one point when Yuvraj was dismissed in the 17th over as they were 172 for 5. Sharad Lumba held one side strong and remained unbeaten on 21 off 10 balls with two sixes and a four.
This is Punjab’s second consecutive win in the super league after they defeated Karnataka in super-over, last match.
