A hat-trick and a breath-taking century in the same match, and on your captaincy debut. That was a day to remember for West Indies allrounder Andre Russell.

Leading Jamaica Tallahwahs for the first time in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Russell revived his team from the depths of 41/5 to a stunning four-wicket win over Trinbago Knight Riders with an astonishing 121 not out off 41 balls. This, after he took a hat-trick in Knight Riders’ innings of 223/6.

This was the fastest century in the CPL’s history, coming off 40 balls. The match saw a total of 448 runs scored between the two teams.

Russell’s all-round heroics have received plenty of praise from current and former cricketers on Twitter.
