Amidst all the fanfare and excitement, Tamil Nadu Premier League opened up at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on August 24 the to witness its first match between Chepauk Super Gillies vs TUTI Patriots. The league had already created lot of buzz due to its promotional tactics all over the country which included the likes of Matthew Hayden coming in India for the promotions. Also this tournament being the first of its kind had already got lot of attention from all over the country. TUTI Patriots won the first match quite comprehensively as Dinesh Karthik played a captains knock as he lead his to a comfortable victory. The second day saw VB Thiruvallur Veerans facing Karaikudi Kaalai. This match too turned out a ripper for the spectators as both teams played good game of cricket. This match saw Tamil Nadu Premier League’s first century as Baba Aparajit who is also the captain of VB Thiruvallur Veerans scored 118* of 63 balls to lead his side successfully chase 166.
