Melbourne: New Zealand swing bowler Trent Boult has expressed that he is excited about the prospect of playing a day-night Test when they travel to India in October. The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is being viewed as a potential venue to host the pink-ball Test, however, no official confirmation has been made yet. “The ball swings nicely here in India most of the time as well,” Boult was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. “The spin bowlers also spin it a lot. It’s going to be pretty exciting if it happens.” The 26-year-old, who did not feature in New Zealand’s World Twenty20 campaign, is yet to feature in the ongoing Indian Premier League season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. New Zealand and Australia etched their names in the history books by playing the cricket’s first-ever pink ball Test under lights in Adelaide. “The experience of playing the Test with the pink ball [in Adelaide last year] was great, the buzz was fantastic,” said Boult, who bagged a five-wicket haul in the second innings of that Test. “It’s definitely exciting for Test cricket, and we need to see more of it.” Trent Boult says, seeing Mitchell McClenagan hit by bouncer stomach churning and scary

The calls for more day-night Tests started getting louder following the inaugural pink-ball cricket, with Australia and Pakistan already locked in to play under lights at the Gabba in December. Australia are also planning to play another pink-ball Test against South Africa at the Adelaide Oval in the third of a three-Test series in November. Earlier, New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult has stated that his side should take a leaf out of Australia‘s reverse swing abilities which was effectively executed in the opening Test match of the two-match series in Wellington.
