India women team have raised their bar post World Cup campaign where they lost to England in final. They have evolved as a team and been performing time to time.

India women have certainly gained confidence after defeating Proteas women in their own backyard in the limited overs format. Coach Tushar Arothe  while talking to Sportstar said the team’s confidence has boosted after the victory.

“This is an ICC-ranking tournament and the team looks positive. Since we have won against South Africa 2-1, the confidence is high,” he said.

The Australia women will be touring India for an ODI series followed by a T20I tri-series. The ODI series is scheduled to take played in Baroda. Arothe believes that team India will have the benefit of home conditions. ”There’s definitely a plus for playing in the home soil and known weather conditions. The players are all focused to perform,” he added.

With the presence of senior players like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami in the team the youngsters are getting benefited. Arothe believes this to be a positive as it is working well. “The seniors are helping the young cricketers. The team is gelling well, and the juniors also don’t realise that are actually playing with so many big names. So, that is definitely a good thing.”

“With so many young players around, the standard of fielding has also improved,” he added.

Australia women won their last ODI series against England by 2-1 and will be very confident ahead of the series in India. Arothe talks about playing touch against the visitors for a series win. “We have to do well and play good cricket. A series win will be great, but we will have to play tough cricket,” Arothe concluded.

The first ODI is scheduled to be played on March 12 at Reliance Stadium, Vadodara and the first practice match to be played on March 6 at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
