The West Indies batsmen failed to show up when needed the most. In the first innings, they had no clue against the Indian bowling unit. Barring K.Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich’s half-centuries, no other player stood up to the task. It meant they were bowled out for 243, and had to bat again.

Their second innings saw a bit more fight shown from the top order, but only for a brief period. A brief period of rain brought relief among the West Indies players, but it did not last long. India’s victory was assured, but momentarily delayed after Carlos Brathwaite and Devendra Bishoo stood tall in the tail-end.
