Former Indian batsman Vinod Kambli, known for his flashy lifestyle, got married to his wife Andrea Hewitt in a quiet Catholic ceremony at St. Peter’s Church in Bandra on Saturday. While the couple had had a court registered marriage some time ago, they chose to have a traditional ceremony so as to coincide with the baptism of their son Jesus Christiano.
According to a report in the Times of India, the decision to have the ceremony was a last-minute one, so there were only close family and friends as guests in attendance. Actors Ashutosh Rana and wife Renuka Shahane were among those present. Kambli said, “They are like family to us.”
This new spiritual turn of Kambli’s is a result of his heart attack in November 2013, when he was rushed to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness. The report stated that Kambli moved towards spirituality and decided to get married.
