Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli has now become one of the six players to have played 150 or more matches in the Indian T20 League. Kohli achieved the milestone while playing against Kolkata at Eden Gardens. Kolkata’s Robin Uthappa, too, equalled Kohli’s feat. The other players who have reached the mark are Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik.

Kohli has remained with Bangalore since the inception of the tournament. He was a Under-19 cricketer, having just won the U-19 World Cup. Kohli has scored 4,418 runs at 37.44. The runs have come at a strike rate of 130.

Kohli took over the full-time leadership mantle from Daniel Vettori in 2013. Bangalore have played four finals of IPL but Kohli has come second every time. He was in brilliant form in 2016 edition, scoring a record 973 runs in the season, slamming four hundreds. However, Bangalore could not cross the final hurdle yet again.
