India-Pakistan bilateral series maybe awaited by many, but cricketers from both nations have never shied away expressing their gratitude towards each other. Virat Kohli and co. had gifted Shahid Afridi a signed jersey on eve of his retirement from international cricket. Kohli went as far as donating his signed bat to Shahid Afridi Foundation as well.

Kohli has always been vocal about his views on cricket with and against Pakistan. During a special ‘Diwali show’ that featured Aamir Khan on Zee Tv, Kohli revealed Mohammad Aamer is one bowler who makes him nervous and challenges his invincibility, “In the recent times, Mohammad Aamer of Pakistan.. He is in the top two or three bowlers in the world and the toughest bowlers I have played in my career. You have to be on your ‘A’ Game when you’re facing him or he will strike. Outstanding! Very good bowler!”

This is not the first time Kohli has echoed the same sentiments. During T20 Asia Cup 2016, Kohli had complimented Aamer and said, “I would like to complement Mohammad Aamer for the way he bowled. I actually congratulated him while he was bowling. I was so happy to play such an amazing spell. He is a world class bowler.”

In response, Aamer was obliged and said, “Kohli’s praise made my day. It was generous of him what he said for me. It’s the sort of encouragement that you need and when it comes from a superstar like Virat, it means a lot. On the other hand, it’s a big challenge for me as well because it adds to my responsibility to prove that I am worth that praise. Even before the match, he used some good words for me. It was very kind of him.”
