As Team India prepare for the upcoming series against South Africa at Dharmasala, Ajinkya Rahane, who has played under the captaincy of both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, said that the duo have good leadership qualities . “Both [Kohli and Dhoni] have good leadership qualities. They have simple goal and that is to see how they can make Team India a champion side. Dhoni has been a captain for a long time and we know how big a captain he is. Virat too has learnt a lot playing under Dhoni. But as a leader their aim is to see how India can be No.1 and move ahead,” said Rahane. READ: Sourav Ganguly: I’m a big fan of Virat Kohli
Rahane like he has said often, said that he is comfortable batting at any position in the line-up, but leaves it to the team management to decide which position he will bat at. Rahane said,”Whatever the captain and the management asks us to do, to play certain role in the team, we are 100 per cent on that. For me, team always comes first then myself. So, whatever team management asks me to do, I’ll do.” READ: India vs South Africa 2015: Hosts cannot boast of an enviable record in T20Is
Rahane went on to say that his good record against South Africa in the past counts for nothing, ” We played well in South Africa; this is a different time now. We are playing after long time in India. It’s going to be exciting. We know the conditions here. First T20I and then ODI: we are preparing accordingly. We had good practice sessions in Bangalore and we have had good practice sessions in Dharmasala. We’ll look to get used to these conditions and look to dominate them and play good cricket. We will look to win the series,”
Spinner Akshar Patel too spoke about the time he is spending with Amit Mishra and Harbhajan Singh. “We are not thinking about them too much. I’m just working on my strengths. We know that the ball does not spin much, but the ball skids and gets bounce as well. So, I’ll look to bowl in those areas,” Akshar said.
