Virat Kohli notched up his 34th ODI hundred during the sixth and final ODI against South Africa. This was also his 3rd ODI hundred in South Africa; fourth overall. Kohli during this knock also became the first man to cross 500-runs in an ODI bilateral series; surpassing Rohit Sharma’s tally of 491 versus Australia. Kohli now has amassed 800 runs in South Africa on this tour.

Kohli during this innings surpassed 9,500 career runs in fewer innings that any other batsmen. AB de Villiers took 213 innings as opposed to Kohli’s 200. Kohli (363 innings) was also the quickest to 17,000 international runs; Hashim Amla reached the landmark in 381 innings.

This was Kohli’s 13th as captain and 21st while chasing. He is now level with De Villiers (13), only behind Ricky Ponting (22).

At time of publishing this report, Kohli along with Ajinkya Rahane added 94 runs for the third wicket with India just 31 runs away from a 5-1 series win.
